Description: This feature class displays the centers within the Forest Preserve Boundaries. There is a centroid point for each Forest Preserve and was derived using ET Geo Wizards Polygon to Point tool, utilizing Forest Preserve Boundaries layers. The conversion to centers was completed using the Center Inside Rule - which creates points representing the centroids of polygons and if the centroid occurs outside of the Forest Preserve Polygonm, the point is moved to be inside the polygon.
Description: This feature class contains the boundaries or extents of the dog exercise areas (dog parks). The District currently has four Dog Exercise Areas: Duck Farm, Independence Grove, Lakewood, and Prairie Wolf.
Description: This dataset includes properties that the District has divested. Reasons for divesture include amendment, dedication, exchange, fee acquisition, sale or the property has been extinquished.
Description: The Forest Preserve Boundaries feature class should be used to identify the boundaries of each preserve. The attributes povide basic information (official total acreage, year of first acquisition, etc.) for each preserve. Each line item in the Attribute Table identifies a Preserve. Distinctions between fee simple, easement and lease/license interests are not shown. The District now consists of 65 (not 66) sites, including traditional Preserves, three golf courses, the General Offices, stormwater facilities, and the Community Garden. Includes the Preserve Code (a combination of the abbreviation and Preserve Number) in a column labeled "Prsrv_Code."

Description: This feature class includes preserve name, full acreage of site, acreage of easements or fee simple for each preserve, the type of preserves (community garden, stormwater facility, forest preserve, golf course), and a website link.
Description: To be used to identify the individual acquisition parcels for property in each preserve. Useful in showing acquisitions by year or in the order in which they were acquired, or to identify a property for which additional information is required. The parcel acreage is based on the acreage of the parcel when acquired and is not reflect any reductions to the size of the parcel. For the correct areage of individual parcels, please use the Acquisition Spreadsheet at Acquisition
Spreadsheet\Acquisitions Spreadsheet.xlsEach line item in the Attribute Table is a separate acquisition, but the boundaries as shown are the current (not original) boundaries. For instance, if the District acquired a 38-acre parcel and four acres were exchanged to Lake County and one acre was dedicated as a ROW, the parcel as depicted would be 33 acres, and the Attribute Table would show a total parcel acreage of 33 acres. Every Forest Preserve District Acquisition is reflected in this layer (unless we have sold/exchanged away the property). The "APN" Column in the Table of Contents refers to the "Acquisition Parcel Number," which will be necessary to identify and link data in the Document Management System to individual parcels. The District now consists of 65 (not 66) sites, including traditional Preserves, three golf courses, the General Offices, stormwater facilities, and the Community Garden.
